My 2017 Pitchwars Mentee Profile

Greetings humans! I'm Reena, from hot & humid Singapore.  Okay the GIF below isn't Singapore but it's Sharuk Khan you guys!!! Can't go wrong with him :)

Btw, as can be observed, I created this blog just for pitchwars. Hopefully, I continue writing in it. On that positive note, let me continue about myself. The boring, must know info is : I'm a teacher of students with special learning needs. Plus I write books.  Duh! :) My genre is Middle Grade Horror.

 The A - Z of Reena ( Now for the fun facts )

A - is for my high ALCOHOL tolerance, since it's tough for me to get drunk, I don't drink much anymore.

B - is for BRIYANI! My favouritest dish eva!! It's curried meat and rice which are cooked separately before being layered and cooked together.

C - is for my CURLY hair, which I adamantly refused to straighten even now.

D - is for DEPRESSION  which I suffered from thirteen till I was in my late twenties.

E - is for ENERGY! I have super high levels of energy, enthusiasm and general excitement for no reason most of the time.

F - is for FUNNY!. I'm pretty funny and crack jokes almost all the time.

G - is for GYM which I just joined recently, thanks to being a tad pudgy from too much briyani and milo;)

H - is for HORROR! I love horror! Not the gory,blood fest kind though. I am more for haunted houses, pyshco thrillers, weird, scary mysteries, basically anything that freaks me out in a smart way.

I  - is for INDIAN which is my race.

J - JUNK FOOD! My childhood and teenage years were largely spent on eating potato chips, french fries and ice-cream. Amazingly I was skinny as a stick then. As a result, I have become so sick of junk food now, that I don't even drink coke or eat fast food.

K - is for KINDER BUENO! My fav chocolate. I rarely eat chocolates, ice-cream or sweet stuff, but I absolutely LOVE Kinder Bueno.Oh wait, does that count as junk food? :0

L - is for LENOVA, my trusty ancient laptop which I been using for ages now. It's what I used to type my two books.

M - is for my continuous addiction to MILO.  Don't worry it's not a drug, just a delicious choc drink 

N -is for that one time I NICKED a book from my school library at 13. I wasn't allowed to borrow books due to outstanding fines and I DESPERATELY wanted to read that book, so I took it, read it and returned it the next day.

O - OLIVES! Love Olives, it's my favourite snack.You know, now that I have sworn off junk food and all;)

P - is for PITCHWARS. I tried in 2015, didn't get in. But the same MS, much revised got me into pitchwars last year. Had 24 agents requests but only got an R&R in the end. But I learned so much & the experience was so amazing, that I am trying again with my new MS!

Q - is for QUIET time, something which I love and need. I am not afraid of being alone and love short stretches of absolute silences. It helps me to ground myself.

R - is for ROLLER COASTERS which I CANNOT DO. I am absolutely terrified of roller coasters, even the ones for kiddies. I kid you not. Pun intended.

S - is for SWEARING. I do that ALOT. Too much for a teacher and a middle grade writer.

T - is for TEA! That's my caffeine of choice though I actually drink more coffee as it keeps me awake better. 

U - is for the UK where I did my Masters and sorely missed the sunlight. Though their tea and cakes were bloody unbeatable!

V - is for VENUS, I once taught a student called Venus, her name was so unique I never forgot it.

W - is for WATER! I love natural bodies of water and am always buying small water fountains which I rarely use.

X - is for XMAS! I was born on Christmas:)

Y - is for YELLOW which together with any bright colours like orange, pink etc are my fav colours

Z - is for Zareena which is my actual name.

Title : Shaya's Curse

Pitch : CORALINE meets STRANGER THINGS when a witch traps 13yo Hasina & her best friend in a haunted mansion which is a gateway to a hell dimension.The witch  absorbs Hasina's depression, turning her pain into monsters which she and her best friend must defeat to escape.
